A diabetes test strip is a small plastic that is inserted into a glucose meter in order to determine blood glucose levels of an individual. Diabetes test strips feature a “test zone,” which contains enzymes, mediators, glucose oxidase, buffer, or other components that convert blood sample into signals that can be read by the meter. 

2. How often do I need to perform blood sugar testing? 

Frequent self-monitoring of blood sugar is crucial to managing and maintaining diabetic treatment. Blood sugar level of diabetics is erratic and subject to frequent changes caused by dietary or food choices, lifestyle choices, medication, stress, and other factors. By constantly checking your blood sugar level, you will be able to make the right response at the moment it is needed. 

3. How often do I need to check my blood sugar level? 

Daily monitoring of monitoring of blood sugar level is recommended. Checking one’s blood sugar level before and after meal enables diabetics and their health care team know their glucose profile better and, therefore, assess how their treatment is working. Check your blood sugar also when you are feeling tired, nauseous, thirsty, or showing other symptoms of high or low blood sugar level. 

4. What is the blood volume required for One Touch Ultra Test Strips? 

Very small- just one microliter of blood sample. 

5. How will you know if there’s enough blood sample on my One Touch Ultra test strip already?

The confirmation window of the test strip should be completely filled. If not enough blood is placed, you may not get accurate results. 

6. How long before One Touch Ultra Test Strips expire?

One Touch Ultra diabetic test strips expire 3 months after opening the vial. Be sure to write the date you opened the vial as well as the discard date. 

7. What happens if I use expired test strips? 

You may not be able to get accurate results. Never use test strips beyond the expiration date found on the package. 

8. Can I use damaged One Touch Ultra Test Strips? 

No, damaged test strips may not give you accurate results. 

9. How do I take care of my One Touch Ultra Test Strips?

Store the test strips in the original vial provided. Do not remove and place them in a new vial. Always close tightly  the vial immediately after removing a test strip.
